Ron Paul’s Robust Online Presence

Is it really a bunch of liberals supporting the anti-war Republican candidate? Or campaign supporters who sit at their computers endlessly voting in online polls and text message FOX News polls? Maybe…just maybe, the mainstream conservative media is incorrect, and there is a more reasonable assertion to be made: Ron Paul has a huge online presence, especially among younger people in the country.

In fact, not only does Ron Paul have support from younger people on the net, he has support from just about everywhere, actually. Pat Buchanan, a traditional conservative, said good words for Paul in mutliple pre-debate discussions on TV. Joy Behar and Rosie O’Donnell, ultra liberal co-hosts of The View, stated Paul was a Republican they would actually VOTE for, due to his reasonable policies and methods of dealing with other nations.

The conservative media is uneasy about this, especially the neoconservatives who currently run the post-9/11 Republican party. Ron Paul represents a beacon from the past, when the Republican’s purpose was individual liberty, intelligent foreign policy, and smaller government. These days, it seems the only thing they have retained is the drive for lower taxes. People like Sean Hannity, who did plenty of blasting of Paul, can’t seem to get out of their one way of viewing the “war on terrorism,” and condemn those who don’t see it the same.

So did I start writing this out of nowhere? Not quite, Ron Paul’s campaign update was sent out last night, stating he now had an astounding 8,000 subscribers, while number two, Barack Obama, was still in ther 5000′s. Ron Paul is the most searched term in places like technorati and Digg. Paul’s Facebook, YouTube, and MySpace numbers are well beyond the more mainstream candidates. He won multiple polls after each debate. As a comment says beneath a New York Times blog talking about Paul:

Internet is full of intelligent tech savvy people and in Ron Paul, they have found someone who represents their beliefs. Almost everyone at Cambridge university who watches him speak believes he speaks sense.

  1. I can’t think of a better chastisement for the current Republican elite than the idea of Ron Paul actually being the favored candidate among conservatives. Talk about wake up call.

  2. i keep confusing this character with RuPaul… can you compare and contrast the two so that no one else is confused?
