Who Are the Ron Paul Haters?

I can tell Ron Paul is doing better in both the polls and the fund raising ($5 million last quarter) because the attacks from other Republicans and “conservatives” is on the rise in the online world. So who are these conservatives that dislike Ron Paul so much? What are their reasons? And what are they saying?

First, taking a look at some of the anti-Ron Paul youtube videos, there are a couple from conservativevoiceUSA — one claiming that his online numbers fake and another just spitting out FOX debate hosts by saying Ron Paul takes marching orders from Al Qaeda.

As I take a look at the anti-Ron comments among a flood of supporting comments, I see things like:

Scrumpy4444 writes: “Maybe Hillary will pick Ron Paul as her running mate when he switches parties, he does a better job of being a fake conservative than her. ” — Yes, the most small government and free market candidate is going to switch to the party of nationalized healthcare, big government, and the welfare state. This commenter is obviously ignorant on what ‘real conservative’ means. What I’ve noticed is that everyone is so focused on the Iraq war issue, they just don’t know how else to view things. If you’re pro choice you can be a Republican, but if you’re anti-war you are quickly labeled a Democrat?

Scrumpy4444 writes: “Wow the liberals really love Ron Paul, I hate to see them waste there money, they should have spent it on abortions and drugs like they usually do.” – I was wondering how long it would take someone to claim that liberal donors made up all of the Q3 money for Ron Paul. Averaging about $40 each, that would have to be a lot of liberals. Oh, and let me help you out on this one bud, it’s ‘their’ money not ‘there’ money.

“Ron Paul will switch parties, its just a matter of time, probably after Hillary cuts off her campaign funding to him.” – Just like the first comment, absolutely ignorant. Can’t handle the fact real conservatives are anti-war. Do we forget the term conservative comes mostly from fiscal conservatism? Let’s spend billions more in Iraq and keep raising the debt level so the government won’t shut down.

Sashagrey writes: “I can’t support Ron Paul, because he will not protect us, we need a real man in office in 08.” – I think you’re forgetting that neither Rudy Giuliani or George Bush kept us safe on 9-11, two guys everyone seems to think is ‘tough’. From there they supported a foreign policy that outraged millions. With this anger is inspiration for terrorism. AND the borders aren’t secure six years after the attack.

jjones1987 writes: “DROP OUT RON!!! GO MITT!!!” – Yeah! The John Kerry of the Republican Party!!!

ConservativevoiceUSA writes: “Our military is exhausted? Who says? you! Since you worry so much about money. How much money did we lose that one day Sept 11th, 2001? All the money you can think of wont bring those 3000+ Americans back to life.” – Don’t worry conservativevoiceUSA, Giuliani recovered the gold under the rubble of the World Trade Center, then ended body recovery right after they found it all!

Scrumpy4444 (again) writes: “Ron Paul won the terrorist poll also, it seems they love his stance on defunding the militqary,cia, and fbi.” – The terrorists hate Ron Paul, he would take away their biggest recruitment drive AKA Iraq. Actually heck, if Ron Paul was president, they would have to retire from being terrorists altogether.

Then there’s another video by a member called rainman422 called Ron Paul “Beat down by the preacher”! Oh, another southerner with a cowboy hat who has no idea what’s going on. Rainman goes on to say Ron Paul is a disgrace to our serving men and women (Ron Paul served during Vietnam) and that it’s absurd to blame American foreign policy for 9-11 without giving any arguments about the subject. “He’s an isolationist, he has an agenda that would bring us back to pre-Civil War America” (wait, wouldn’t that make this guy happy?) There are some things that are opinion, and others that are just wrong. Non-interventionism is NOT isolationism. Isolationism is not dealing with anyone, non-intervention is not getting directly involved in other nations affairs while still dealing with them.

red5llaw writes: “I have only met 1 (one) RP supporter who was NOT patronising and elitest.” – Wow, really? I think you mean ‘elitist’ too … oh crap, does correcting your spelling mean I’m patronizing?

I did find a pro comment that I thought was a good response to the video itself by hillbillybeachboy: “Pre Civil War America? Pre 14th Amendment? Pre Federal Reserve? Pre National debt? Pre owing our souls to the banking elite of Wall Street? Sign me up! If you want to quit looking like an idiot, get you some “Banking and Currency and the Money Trust”, by CA Lindbergh Sr. You might start to understand who’s false rhetoric you spew.“

And then there’s one of my favorite videos made by t1r2b3 called second amendment B.S from Ron Paul. The creator looks like a burned out hippie, and he goes through some generalizations that make no sense, and his video ends with some scrolling text commentary about how big government has exceeded the scope that our “for fathers” (?) could ‘even comprehend’. It seems like this fellow hates guns and likes socialism.

This video called DON’T VOTE FOR RON PAUL uses a bit of humor, it is an anti-Ron Paul video that really is a pro-Ron Paul video. The text says the 28 second video was paid for the the “Bureau of Complacency” and the main message is that the government is just beating us with things like the war on drugs, the war on terror, and fear. By voting for Ron Paul, they “won’t be able to protect you”. But the main point is, that isn’t a bad thing!

ZXROMEO writes: “Ron Paul supporters are 99% weed smokers and the “Legalize weed bunch”….everyone knows this.” – I don’t smoke weed, I must be that 1%.

Rainmain writes: “RON PAUL SUPPORTERS,
If your a victim of an alien sexual assault or abduction below information very well could save your life! (Hotline toll free) 1-800-crazy- bastard! Tell the operator the last time Aliens used an anal probe! You may be expecting. Symptoms of impregnation; Ranting about the CFR, CIA, FBI etc…

Conclusions

Alright listen fellows, I like variation in opinion as much as anyone (except yourselves, you expect all Republicans to want war, or else you freak out), but give us something to work with here. All the anti-Ron Paul arguments are direct contradictions of real conservative values, which just mounts the growing hypocrisy of everything that you write. Your comments like ‘his numbers are fake’ or ‘he will switch parties’ are so ignorant that there isn’t much to say in response. We need to stop being so attached to the war and using the fear of terrorism. It worked in 2002 and 2004, but as seen in 2006, it isn’t working anymore. The United States is going bankrupt, and we’re inspiring people to commit terrorism every single day.

The final lesson for today, the RP haters online consist of three groups:

1. Guys with cowboy hats
2. Disgruntled gun-hating hippies
3. The Bureau of Complacency
